Q:  How is SmartMsg different from other instant-messaging programs on the market?

A:   SmartMsg was designed for system administrators and/or managers to send urgent notifications and announcements to users, system wide. Groups can be utilized to target important messages to users easily, as well as instantly. SmartMsg supports multiple servers to accommodate the largest of systems.

Q:  Is SmartMsg robust enough for large organizations?

A:   Yes. SmartMsg is specially designed for use in larger, enterprise-sized networks. It can even be used to interconnect large organizations around the world. SmartMsg can be used in smaller networks as well.

Q:  Would I need any dedicated servers to run the SmartMsg product?

A:   No. SmartMsg does not require dedicated servers. It leaves a very small footprint and does not require many resources. Any high-availability server is usually adequate. SmartMsg servers can run on machines that are running other applications.

Q:  How many clients can SmartMsg support?

A:   SmartMsg is very scalable and can support a virtually unlimited number of clients. As a system needs to grow and more clients need to be supported, additional SmartMsg servers can be added easily, without redesigning or reconfiguring the initial architecture.

Q:  Can SmartMsg use my existing security infrastructure (users, groups, etc.)?

A:   Yes. There is an Active Directory plug-in available which allows integration of SmartMsg with Microsoft Active directory. This allows you to utilize the Windows users and groups your organization already has in place.

Q:  Does SmartMsg require any other server software, such as Microsoft SQL Server or MS Access?

A:   No. SmartMsg has its own built-in database engine. This provides 2 advantages — no additional software needs to be purchased and the database is optimized so that performance is maximized.

Q:  Will SmartMsg work with my existing LAN/WAN infrastructure (VPN, firewall, etc.)?

A:   SmartMsg servers are highly configurable, and are designed to be flexible to allow use with VPN's and computers behind firewalls.

Q:  How reliable is SmartMsg?

A:   SmartMsg provides reliability with its flexible multi-server design. All SmartMsg servers in a system contain a copy of the SmartMsg database. The system can be configured to eliminate single points of failure.
